Everything went according to plan in Mar del Plata where third ranked Penarol (17-7) outscored 14th ranked Club 9 (8-17) 89-69 on Friday. The game without a history. Penarol led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Penarol forced 20 Club 9 turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Penarol made 8 blocks. International forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Facundo Campazzo (180-91) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Penarol's coach Sergio Hernandez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side power forward Pablo Orlietti (208-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and Panamanian forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser Club 9 keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Penarol will face again Club 9 (#14) in Rio Tercero in the next round which should be another easy win for them.
