Second Stage Round 25: Boca Jrs - Quimsa 67-73
Date: February 24, 2012
Not a big story in a game in Buenos Aires where 11th ranked Boca Juniors (9-16) was defeated by eighth ranked Quimsa (13-12) 73-67 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 16-7. But Boca Juniors won third quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quimsa dominated on the defensive end, holding Boca Juniors to just 7 points in first quarter. The former international forward Diego Lo Grippo (198-78) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and American power forward James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Fernando Martina (202-81) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Larry O'Bannon (194-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) scored 20 points. Boca Juniors' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quimsa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 13-12 record, which they share with GECR Indalo. Loser Boca Juniors dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Quimsa will face GECR Indalo (#9) in Comodoro R. in the next round. Boca Juniors will play at home against Libertad Sunchales.
