The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Optima Gent's (5-14) road loss to seventh ranked Belgacom Liege (7-11) 76-82 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-21. But Optima Gent won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St.) who scored 26 points and 5 assists. Center Len Matela (206-80, college: Bowling Green, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Belgacom Liege players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Graham Brown (205-84, college: Michigan) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds and guard Michael Jenkins (191-86, college: Winthrop) added 22 points respectively. Belgacom Liege maintains seventh place with 7-11 record. Optima Gent lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Belgacom Liege will meet at home higher ranked Leuven Bears (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Optima Gent will play against Antwerp Giants and hope to secure a win.
