Round 23 in NM1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Brest where host Etendard de Brest (12-11) edged league's leader Charleville-Mezieres (17-6) 84-82 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Charleville-Mezieres. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-82. Etendard de Brest forced 19 Charleville-Mezieres turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Cameroonian power forward Brice Vounang (202-82, college: San Diego) who scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Pridotkas (200-84) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Charleville-Mezieres will play next round against strong Souffelweyersheim trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Etendard de Brest will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Sorgues on the road.
