There was a minor upset when 6th ranked AZS UWM Olsz. (9-10) lost on the road to ninth ranked Trefl II Sopot (8-10) 81-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl II Sopot. AZS UWM Olsz. was better in fourth quarter 24-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trefl II Sopot made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game, while AZS UWM Olsz. only scored seven points from the stripe. Trefl II Sopot forced 28 AZS UWM Olsz. turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Trefl II Sopot made 11 blocks. It was a good game for guard Daniel Szymkiewicz (193-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Wojciech Fras (203-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trefl II Sopot moved-up to eighth place in Group A. AZS UWM Olsz. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face league's second-placed Astoria Bydg. in Bydgoszcz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
