Regular Season Round 23: Chartres - Sorgues 69-72

A very interesting game took place in Chartres. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 12th ranked Chartres (10-13) to ninth ranked Sorgues (13-10) 72-69 on Saturday evening. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 19-14 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian forward Slobodan Ocokoljic (204-80, college: Weber St.) who led the winners and scored 13 points. Center Xavier Pasut (200-84) accounted for 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Guard Willy Berquier (177-87) came up with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and center Herve Jalce (201-80) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Chartres in the defeat. Chartres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sorgues moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Challans. Newly promoted Chartres keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Sorgues' next round opponent will be Etendard de Brest (#10) at home. Chartres will play against Lievin Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
