Regular Season Round 21: Pogon Prudnik - AZS AGH Alstom 74-76

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Pogon Prudnik (14-7) was edged at home by sixth ranked AZS AGH Alstom (12-9) 76-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 23-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. AZS AGH Alstom forced 24 Pogon Prudnik turnovers and outrebounded them 52-22 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Grzegorz Dudzik (190-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Lukasz Pajak (205-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Marcin Lakis (196-80) answered with 18 points and 5 blocks and guard Szymon Kucia (190-83) added 15 points in the effort for Pogon Prudnik. Four Pogon Prudnik players scored in double figures. AZS AGH Alstom have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted AZS AGH Alstom maintains sixth place in Group B with 12-9 record. Pogon Prudnik lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with seven games lost. AZS AGH Alstom will face higher ranked WKK Obiekty (#5) in Wroclaw in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pogon Prudnik will play on the road against the league's leader Slask II W. in Wroclaw and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
