Regular Season Round 19: Hoganas - Malbas 75-92

The game between Top Four teams took place in Hoganas. 3rd placed host Hoganas (13-5) lost to first ranked Malbas (19-1) 92-75. The game was mostly controlled by Malbas. Hoganas was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Malbas forced 19 Hoganas turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) who led the winners and scored 30 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Alexander Nilsson (-90) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Malbas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Lithuanian forward Nerijus Strazdauskas (198-84) came up with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and Lithuanian power forward Linas Savickas (197-79) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Hoganas in the defeat. Four Hoganas players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Malbas. They maintain first place in South with 19-1 record. Hoganas at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Malbas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Malmo Srbija.
