Fifth-ranked Tochigi Brex (15-19) gave a tough game to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (25-9) on Saturday. The visitors from Kariya managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Anthony Richardson (201-83, college: Florida St., agency: TSS Management) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) scored 18 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-9 record. Tochigi Brex lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Hokkaido L.. Aishin Sea Horses are looking forward to face Panasonic Trians (#4) in Osaka in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
