An interesting game for Akita Happinets (22-13) which hosted in Akita 4th placed Niigata Albirex (18-17). Second ranked Akita Happinets managed to get a 6-point victory 64-58. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 25-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Akita Happinets made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game, while Niigata Albirex only scored four points from the stripe. Akita Happinets forced 19 Niigata Albirex turnovers. Strangely Niigata Albirex outrebounded Akita Happinets 57-30 including a 25-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Forward E.J. Drayton (204-82, college: Charlotte, agency: Strategic Sports) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 22 rebounds and forward Erron Maxey (198-78, college: Providence) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Niigata Albirex in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Akita Happinets have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 22-13 record having six points less than leader Hamamatsu P. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 17 games lost. Akita Happinets will again meet at home Niigata Albirex (#4) in the next round. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round.
