Regular Season Round 21: Segle XXI - Orion-GDKO 60-68

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Segle XXI (3-15) lost to eleventh ranked Orion-GDKO (8-11) in Barcelona 60-68 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a good game for American swingman Katie Gearlds (186-84, college: Purdue) who led her team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (184-76, agency: Players Group) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Maria Arrojo (186-85) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and forward Irene Gari (184-94) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Segle XXI. Segle XXI's coach Ramon Jordana rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Orion-GDKO moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Estudiantes and Gernika. Segle XXI lost their eleventh game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Orion-GDKO will face Palma (#15) in Palma de Mallorca in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Segle XXI will play at home against ASEFA Estudiantes in Madrid.
