Regular Season Round 15: STU Tbilisi - Batumi 62-66

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Batumi (2-12) beat 8th ranked STU (5-9) in Tbilisi 66-62. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But STU won fourth quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by STU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Irakli Mikeladze (179-94) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Zviad Antadze (198-88, college: Monroe Coll.) who recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Zurab Machaladze (198-92) added 6 points and 17 rebounds respectively. STU's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Batumi maintains tenth place with 2-12 record. STU lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Batumi's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sokhumi (#4) in Tbilisi and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
