Regular Season Round 15: Sokhumi - Olimpi 65-84

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#2) and Sokhumi (#4). Sokhumi was crushed at home by 19 points 65-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpi. Sokhumi managed to win fourth quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpi dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 28. They outrebounded Sokhumi 53-27 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Sokhumi's players. It was a good game for Montenegrin power forward Ivan Todorovic (214-84, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Czech center Ivo Hoger (225-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. International guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) answered with 24 points and 5 steals and international guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin, agency: Alti Sport) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Sokhumi. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpi have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Olimpi maintains second place with 11-2 record having just two points less than leader Armia. Sokhumi at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with MIA Academy. Olimpi are looking forward to face Kutaisi (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sokhumi will play against Batumi and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
