Regular Season Round 21: Gernika - Eivissa 77-73

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Gernika (8-11) defeated at home higher ranked Space Tanit Eivissa (11-9) 77-73 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Space Tanit Eivissa won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Space Tanit Eivissa was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Alysha Harvin (178-88, college: Florida St.) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 4 assists. point guard Judith Monasterio (170-84) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Anna Boleda (181-81) answered with 26 points and American forward Crista Ricketts (185-85, college: La Salle) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Space Tanit Eivissa. Gernika moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Estudiantes and Orion-GDKO. Space Tanit Eivissa lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Gernika will have a break next round. Space Tanit Eivissa will play at home against Cravic Reus (#13).
