Regular Season Round 17: Panasonic T. - Hitachi SR 59-86

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Osaka: Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) and Panasonic Trians (#3). Panasonic Trians were crushed at home by 27 points 59-86 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panasonic Trians. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Hitachi Sunrockers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. The best player for the winners was Swedish forward Christian Maraker (206-82, college: Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) produced 11 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers (20-14) moved-up to third place, which they share with Panasonic T. Hitachi Sunrockers will meet at home Tochigi Brex (#5) in the next round. Panasonic Trians will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
