Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Asefa Estudiantes (6-15) lost to fourteenth ranked FIATC Joventut (8-13) in Madrid 56-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by FIATC Joventut. Asefa Estudiantes was better in fourth quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Latavious Williams (202-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Pooh Jeter (179-83, college: Portland) contributed with 19 points for the winners. FIATC Joventut's coach Salvador Maldonado used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center German Gabriel (207-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Rodrigo De La Fuente (200-76, college: Washington, agency: Interperformances) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Asefa Estudiantes. FIATC Joventut moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with GC 2014. Asefa Estudiantes lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 15 games lost. FIATC Joventut will face higher ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#12) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Asefa Estudiantes will play on the road against Lagun Aro GBC (#8) in San Sebastian.
