A very interesting game took place in Kauhajoki. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed Kauhajoen Karhu (20-13) to tenth ranked UU-Korihait (11-20) 80-79 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Kauhajoen Karhu was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 23-16 charge of UU-Korihait, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kauhajoen Karhu's 36. They outrebounded Kauhajoen Karhu 42-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was swingman Nigel Moore (195-81, college: Alabama A&M) who scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: R.H.Consultancy) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) added 23 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Five UU-Korihait and four Kauhajoen Karhu players scored in double figures. UU-Korihait moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Kouvot and LrNMKY. Kauhajoen Karhu at the other side keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. UU-Korihait's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Namika Lahti (#11) at home. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against KTP-Basket (#6) in Kotka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
