Regular Season Round 12: Al Jaysh - Al Sadd 58-71
Date: February 25, 2012
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: As Sadd (#2) and Al Jaysh (#5). Al Jaysh was defeated at home 58-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. As Sadd forced 30 Al Jaysh turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Michael Southall (210-82, college: La-Lafayette) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and international swingman Abdulrahman Saad (192-85) who added 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was international forward Baker Ahmad (199-86) with 15 points and 4 assists and naturalized Lebanese guard Fadi Hani (184) scored 13 points and 4 steals. As Sadd (10-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just two points less than leader Al Rayyan. Loser Al Jaysh keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
