Regular Season Round 39: Osaka Evessa - Hamamatsu P. 77-92

An interesting game for Hamamatsu Phoenix (22-12) which played road game in Osaka against second-best Osaka Evessa (24-9). First ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix had an easy win 92-77. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Osaka Evessa. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Hamamatsu Phoenix led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: VVG Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 assists. Guard Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St., agency: ACMT) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Lynn Washington (200-78, college: Indiana) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists and center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 22-12 record, which they share with Fukuoka Rizing. Osaka Evessa at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Osaka Evessa will play again at home against the league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
