Seventh-ranked Napoli BK Women (9-10) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Ragusa (17-3) on Saturday. The visitors from Ragusa managed to secure only one-point victory 71-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game in overtime by 1 point. Ragusa forced 20 Napoli BK Women turnovers and outrebounded them 43-30 including 18 on the offensive glass. Napoli BK Women was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Mozambican center Clarisse Machanguana (194-73, college: ODU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Martina Bestagno (189-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. point guard Elettra Ferretti (175-93) replied with 18 points and 5 steals and Bulgarian power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Napoli BK Women. Ragusa have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 17-3 record. Napoli BK Women at the other side keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Ragusa will face Battipaglia (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
