We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Terme di Cervia (6-12) was outleveled on the road by eleventh ranked Alghero (6-13) 72-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alghero. Terme di Cervia was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alghero dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Terme di Cervia's 36. Alghero forced 20 Terme di Cervia turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. Bulgarian power forward Radostina Slavova-Naneva (188-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Elisa Bonaldo (170-81) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and forward Stella Panella (178-93) added 18 points in the effort for Terme di Cervia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alghero maintains eleventh position in North with 6-13 record. Terme di Cervia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. Alghero will face higher ranked Milano (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
