Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Asteras and 6th ranked DAS Ano Liosa had identical 10-7 record. But DAS Ano Liosa was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Athens 73-71 on Saturday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But DAS Ano Liosa won fourth quarter 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded DAS Ano Liosa 45-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Nikitta Gartrell (175-88, college: N.Carolina St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Vassiliki Daskalopoulou (178-84) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Collen Planeta (188-88, college: Point Loma) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and forward Ioanna Diela (175-90) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Newly promoted Asteras maintains fifth position with 11-7 record. DAS Ano Liosa at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Asteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Athinaikos.
