Regular Season Round 18: Panionios - Kronos AD 63-62

Date: February 25, 2012
Not a big story in a game in Athens where 8th ranked Kronos AD (6-12) was edged by third ranked Panionios (13-5) 63-62 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Kronos AD was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 16-12 charge of Panionios, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Brittany Johnson (180-89, college: Ohio St.) who scored 22 points. Bulgarian center Lydia Milkova (192-70) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian power forward Milena Vukicevic (188-80) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Anastasia Gotzi added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Panionios have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record having five points less than leader Athinaikos, which they share with Panathinaikos. Kronos AD lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Panionios will face FEA Neas (#7) in Halkidon in the next round. Kronos AD will play at home against PAOK in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
