The biggest surprise of round 23 was guest Aanekosken's (17-6) road victory over second-ranked Peli-Karhut (16-7) 81-78 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Peli-Karhut. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 34-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Madina Ali (182-87, college: W.Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Sanna Jamsen (183-79) chipped in 18 points. Aanekosken's coach Mervi Nurmi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Becca Bruszewski (185-88, college: Notre Dame) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import swingman Rashada McCants (185-86, college: N.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aanekosken have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Peli-Karhut dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Aanekosken are looking forward to face Forssan Alku (#4) at home in the next round. Peli-Karhut will play against Torpan Pojat in Helsinki and is hoping to win this game.
