Regular Season Round 9: Ourinhos - Sao Caetano 72-50

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Sao Caetano (0-15) was outleveled on the road by second ranked Ourinhos (11-4) 72-50 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ourinhos. Sao Caetano was better in fourth quarter 14-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ourinhos forced 19 Sao Caetano turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Sao Caetano's players. It was a good game for the former international forward Silvia Gustavo (185-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Joice de Souza (174-86) contributed with 8 points and 11 assists for the winners. Forward Julia Santos (182-88) answered with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and power forward Monica Da Silva Nascimento (191-91) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Sao Caetano. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ourinhos. They maintain second place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Americana. Sao Caetano lost their eleventh game in a row. They still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Ourinhos will face Maranhao (#6) in Maranho in the next round. Sao Caetano will play on the road against Maranhao in Maranho and hopes to get finally their first victory.
