Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Maranhao (5-10) lost to third ranked Poty/Acucar (10-4) in Caranduva 70-83 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Poty/Acucar. Maranhao was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maranhao was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international center Gilmara Justino (191-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Fabao Oliveira (180-79) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Poty/Acucar players scored in double figures. International swingman Iziane Castro Marques (183-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds and forward Renatinha Oliveira (182-85) added 17 points in the effort for Maranhao. Poty/Acucar maintains third place with 10-4 record having four points less than leader Americana. Maranhao lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Poty/Acucar will face league's leader Americana in Vila Medon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maranhao will play at home against the league's second-placed Ourinhos (#2).
