The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Valmiera (12-10) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked VEF Riga (10-1) 87-72. The game without a history. VEF Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. VEF Riga outrebounded Valmiera 42-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Valmiera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-Jamaican guard Maurice Bailey (183-81, college: Sacred Heart) who led his team to a victory with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
