Everything went according to plan when third ranked T. La Spezia (14-3) defeated on the road 5th ranked Orvieto (11-6) 50-45 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Orvieto won third quarter 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. German power forward Petra Glaser (196-81, college: Long Beach St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Roberta Sarti (186-79) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International forward Francesca Mariani (188-85) replied with 19 points and 4 steals and Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Orvieto. T. La Spezia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in South. Orvieto at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. T. La Spezia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in La Spezia to the arena S. La Spezia.
