There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Oita Heat Devils (12-23) beat on the road 6th ranked Shimane Magic (20-16) 80-73 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-73. Oita Heat Devils dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shimane Magic's 38. American players dominated also this game. It was a very good performance for forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Shimane Magic. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oita Heat Devils maintains eighth position with 12-23 record. Loser Shimane Magic keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face higher ranked Sendai 89ers (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
