Important game to mention about took place in Alicante. Fifteenth ranked Blusens Monbus (7-14) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (13-8) 64-63 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It looked good early as Meridiano Alicante took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Blusens Monbus had a 29-10 second period charge getting the lead and Meridiano Alicante was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-64. Canadian-Irish forward Levon Kendall (209-84, college: Pittsburgh) stepped up and scored 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and naturalized American forward Bernard Hopkins (198-73, college: VCU) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Blusens Monbus' coach Moncho Fernandez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Pedro Llompart (190-82) with 16 points and American swingman Benjamin Dewar (196-81, college: L.Superior) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Blusens Monbus. Newly promoted Blusens Monbus maintains fifteenth place with 7-14 record. Meridiano Alicante at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Unicaja. Blusens Monbus will play against league's second-placed Real Madrid at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meridiano Alicante will play against Blancos de Rueda in Valladolid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
