Regular Season Round 22: Givova Scafati - Trenkwalder RE 77-61

There was a change at the Lega2 leadership position after last games. Round 22 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Trenkwalder RE (14-5). They were defeated by third ranked Givova Scafati (15-6) 77-61 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Trenkwalder RE. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Givova Scafati. Trenkwalder RE managed to win fourth quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward James Thomas (203-80, college: Texas) scored 8 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Argentinian point guard Marcos Casini (188-80) chipped in 17 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Donell Taylor (198-82, college: UAB) responded with 18 points and the former international center Roberto Chiacig (210-74) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Givova Scafati have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Trenkwalder RE at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Givova Scafati. Trenkwalder RE will play next round against strong Enel Brindisi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Givova Scafati will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Tezenis Verona on the road.
