Regular Season Round 27: Anagni - Matera 94-71
Date: February 26, 2012
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Anagni (9-15) outleveled at home 5th ranked Matera (11-14) 94-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Anagni. Matera was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for naturalized Argentinian center Diego Corral (205-86, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Riccardo Santolamazza (195-83) helped adding 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Anagni players scored in double figures. Anagni's coach Luciano Nunzi felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Andrea Pilotti (196-80, agency: Players Group) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Cristiano Grappasonni (204-72) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Anagni maintains sixth place with 9-15 record. Matera lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with 14 games lost. Anagni will face higher ranked Chieti (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Matera will play against the league's leader Napoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
