Regular Season Round 25: Granada - Menorca 57-78
Date: February 26, 2012
There was no surprise when 17th ranked CB Granada (6-19) was crushed at home by second ranked Menorca Basquet (17-8) 78-57 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-57. Menorca Basquet forced 19 CB Granada turnovers. Power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) fired 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Swingman David Navarro (192-83) chipped in 13 points. Menorca Basquet's coach Josep Berrocal felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Raimundo Lopez (185-89) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Menorca Basquet maintains second place with 17-8 record having just one points less than leader Canarias. CB Granada lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 19 games lost. Menorca Basquet will face Ford Burgos (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. CB Granada will play against the league's leader Canarias (#1) in Tenerife and be promoted back to the ACB just one year after relegation.
