The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Recanati as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Recanati defeated second-best Orlandina at home 81-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Orlandina. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Orlandina was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Recanati forced 27 Orlandina turnovers. It was a great evening for center Paolo Chiarello (204-78) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). point guard Simone Centanni (184-91, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 10 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Andrea Benevelli (202-85) with 23 points and 6 rebounds and guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Orlandina keeps the second place with ten games lost. They share the position with Treviglio. Orlandina will play next round against strong Latina Basket trying to get back on the winning streak. Recanati will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Bari at home.
