The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Taranto as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Taranto smashed 9th ranked Pall.Pozzuoli at home 83-60. The game was mostly controlled by Taranto. Pall.Pozzuoli managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Taranto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pall.Pozzuoli's 36 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Taranto forced 26 Pall.Pozzuoli turnovers. It was a good game for American center Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Giorgia Sottana (177-88) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Serbian center Daliborka Vilipic (196-75) replied with 17 points and American guard Kelly Mazzante (183-82, college: Penn St.) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Pall.Pozzuoli. Taranto have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Pall.Pozzuoli at the other side keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Pall.Pozzuoli will play next round against Alcamo trying to get back on the winning streak. Taranto will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Priolo on the road.
