Regular Season Round 22: Cantu - Benetton TV 79-67
Date: February 26, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Benetton Treviso (8-12) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Bennet Cantu (12-8) 79-67. The game was mostly controlled by Bennet Cantu. Benetton Treviso was better in second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bennet Cantu made 29-of-36 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Benetton Treviso only scored eleven points from the stripe. Benetton Treviso was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) notched 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Georgian guard Manuchar Markoishvili (196-86) supported him with 16 points. Four Bennet Cantu players scored in double figures. Even 22 points by American forward Marcus Goree (201-77, college: W.Virginia) did not help to save the game for Benetton Treviso. Naturalized American forward Jeffrey Viggiano (197-84, college: Massachusetts) added 13 points for lost side. Benetton Treviso's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bennet Cantu moved-up to sixth place.
