The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Joensuun Kataja (25-6) on the court of third ranked Loimaan Korikonkarit on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by Loimaan Korikonkarit 88-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Joensuun Kataja. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Joensuun Kataja trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 27-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-88 at the end of the game. American guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Pro One Sports) answered with 25 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Samuel Haanpaa (203-86) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Joensuun Kataja. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Loimaan Korikonkarit (22-8) moved-up to second place. Joensuun Kataja at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Loimaan Korikonkarit are looking forward to face Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Joensuun Kataja will play against Salon Vilpas and is hoping to win this game.
