There was no surprise in Siena where 6th ranked Comsum.it SI (8-19) was outplayed by fourth ranked Santarcangelo (10-17) 83-55 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 28 points. Santarcangelo dominated on the defensive end, holding Comsum.it SI to just 6 points in second quarter. They made 31-of-36 free shots (86.1 percent) during the game, while Comsum.it SI only scored twelve points from the stripe. Comsum.it SI was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Eugenio Rivali (178-86) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Matteo Palermo (190-91) who added 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Santarcangelo players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Marco Pascolo (198-93) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and guard Gabriele Spizzichini (195-92) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santarcangelo have a solid four-game winning streak. Santarcangelo will face Firenze (#6) on the road in the next round. Comsum.it SI will play against Castelletto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
