Bottom-ranked Sozh Gomel (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 105-69 loss to fifth ranked SBK Osipovichi (8-13) in Gomel on Friday evening. They also forced 23 Sozh Gomel turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Yury Mishukov (205-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89) who added 20 points and 6 assists during the contest. Five SBK Osipovichi players scored in double figures. point guard Yahor Patupchyk (186-94) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and center Pavel Bliznets (205-94) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SBK Osipovichi maintains fifth position with 8-13 record. Loser Sozh Gomel still closes the standings. SBK Osipovichi will meet at home Minsk-2006 II (#6) in the next round. Sozh Gomel will have a break next round.
