Regular Season Round 18: Toshiba BT - Mitsubishi DD 75-56

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Kanagawa where eighth ranked Toshiba Thunders (7-29) smashed 7th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (12-24) 75-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Mitsubishi Dolphins was better in fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi Dolphins' 24. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 44-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) with 15 points and American center Byron Allen (201-81, college: Northwestern St., agency: SDJ Sports) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains eighth position with 7-29 record. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the seventh place with 24 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face higher ranked Panasonic Trians (#4) in Osaka in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
