Regular Season Round 21: Aris - Kavala 78-57

An interesting game took place in Thessaloniki where higher ranked Kavala (10-10) was upset on the court of tenth ranked Aris (7-12) 78-57. The game was mostly controlled by Aris. Kavala was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Kavala's 16. Aris forced 20 Kavala turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Ronald Davis (190-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. Naturalized American guard Dan Mavraides (193-88, college: Princeton) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Aris' coach Vangelis Alexandris felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bosnian guard Muhamed Pasalic (192-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) answered with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Sotiris Karapostolou (194-78, college: S.New Hampshire, agency: FCM) added 11 points and 6 assists in the effort for Kavala. Aris moved-up to eighth place, which they share with KAOD. Kavala at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Aris' next round opponent will be Ilysiakos (#10) in Athens.
