Regular Season Round 26: Menorca - A.Ford Burgos 68-72

The most important game in the last round took place in Mahon between second ranked Menorca Basquet (17-9) and seventh ranked Ford Burgos (16-10) on Saturday night. Menorca Basquet was defeated by Ford Burgos in a tough game at home 68-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Menorca Basquet. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-8. But Menorca Basquet won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) orchestrated the victory by scoring 4 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Rafael Huertas (189-84, agency: Court Side) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) replied with 6 points and 14 rebounds and forward Marc Blanch (195-82) added 18 points in the effort for Menorca Basquet. Menorca Basquet's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ford Burgos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lleida and Navarra. Menorca Basquet at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with La Palma. Ford Burgos is looking forward to face league's leader Canarias in Tenerife in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Menorca Basquet will play on the road against Melilla Baloncesto and is hoping to win this game.
