Very predictable result when eighth ranked Alba Chorzow (11-11) smashed at home 14th ranked UMKS Piotrc. (3-19) 85-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Alba Chorzow led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to UMKS Piotrc.'s 36. Alba Chorzow forced 19 UMKS Piotrc. turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Alba Chorzow made 14 blocks. Power forward Marcin Weselak (204-79) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Piotr Podbial (191-85) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Four Alba Chorzow players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Damian Kalinowski (201-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and guard Bartosz Pelka (180-89) scored 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Alba Chorzow maintains eighth position in Group B with 11-11 record. UMKS Piotrc. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. Alba Chorzow will face higher ranked Pogon Prudnik (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UMKS Piotrc. will play against AZS AWF K-ce (#3) in Katowice.
