Regular Season Round 16: TSU Tbilisi - Armia 56-118
Date: March 3, 2012
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Armia (#1) and TSU (#7). TSU was smashed at home by 62 points 56-118 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Armia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TSU to just 7 points in first quarter. Armia dominated down low during the game scoring 92 of its points in the paint compared to TSU's 34. They outrebounded TSU 65-25 including a 50-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Armia players were unselfish on offense dishing 38 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by TSU's players. The winners were led by international swingman Anatoliy Boisa (195-83, college: Lincoln Memorial, agency: World Sport Agency) who scored that evening 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and American Will Thomas (203-86) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Armia players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by guard Mikheil Chitashvili (193-84) did not help to save the game for TSU. Forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) added 9 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Armia (14-0) have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 14 victories in a row. TSU at the other side dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with STU Tbilisi. Armia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Samedicino-Academia.
