Rather expected game in Osaka where 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (16-20) was defeated by third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (21-15) 86-82 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tochigi Brex won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hitachi Sunrockers won last quarter 21-19. American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) chipped in 30 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) with 25 points and 7 assists and the former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) scored 10 points. Tochigi Brex's coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains third position with 21-15 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Tochigi Brex lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 20 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tochigi Brex will play at home against Hokkaido L. (#5) in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
