Regular Season Round 41: Chiba Jets - Shinshu BW 79-88

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eighth ranked Shinshu BW (14-23) beat on the road 7th ranked Chiba Jets (13-22) 88-79 on Saturday. Chiba Jets were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of Shinshu BW, which allowed them to win the game. Shinshu BW outrebounded Chiba Jets 42-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) stepped up and scored 22 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minnesota St.) responded with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) scored 23 points. Chiba Jets' coach Eric Gardow rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shinshu BW moved-up to seventh place. Loser Chiba Jets dropped to the eighth position with 22 games lost. Shinshu BW will have a break next round. Chiba Jets will play again at home against Shinshu BW (#7) in Nagano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
