Very predictable result when eighth ranked Gran Canaria (11-11) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Ibiza (3-20) 75-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-64. Gran Canaria made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while Ibiza only scored seven points from the stripe. Gran Canaria forced 19 Ibiza turnovers. It was a great evening for Ivorian power forward Vanessa Ble (190-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. American D'andra Moss (178-88, college: VCU) helped adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American center Charity Szczechowiak (191-85, college: SF Austin) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and Dutch forward Marlou De Kleijn (182-92) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Gran Canaria moved-up to seventh place. Ibiza lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Gran Canaria will face higher ranked Mann Filter (#5) in Zaragoza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ibiza will play on the road against Arranz-Jopisa Burgos (#9).
