There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Napoli BK Women (9-11) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Napoli S.Dike (8-11) 65-57 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-11. But Napoli BK Women won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Napoli S.Dike shot 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Napoli BK Women only scored six points from the stripe. Napoli BK Women was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Romanian center Elisabeth Pavel (192-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Sara Bocchetti (175-93) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and guard Nadia Calamai (170-86) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Napoli S.Dike. They maintain ninth place in South with 8-11 record. Napoli BK Women lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Napoli S.Dike will face higher ranked C.U.S. Chieti (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
