Regular Season Round 19: Lucca - Familia Schio 81-80 OT

Fifth ranked Lucca won an overtime thriller edging much higher ranked Familia Schio by one point 81-80 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Familia Schio. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Familia Schio won fourth quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Familia Schio used huge pressure winning it 23-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 18-19. Lucca forced 22 Familia Schio turnovers. It was a great evening for American power forward Courtney Willis (188-82, college: E.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds. Portuguese forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU) helped adding 26 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Israeli guard Liron Cohen (173-82) responded with 27 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Laura Macchi (187-79) scored 19 points. Lucca (12-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Umbertide. Familia Schio at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Lucca will face higher ranked Comense (#3) in Como in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Familia Schio will play at home against Umbertide and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
