Regular Season Round 21: Milano - Alghero 61-41

Very expected game when 11th ranked Alghero (6-14) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Milano (14-6) 61-41 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Alghero was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 5 points in first quarter. Milano held Alghero to an opponent 23.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Power forward Ntumba Madelene Mitongu (180-81) stepped up and scored 11 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) chipped in 16 points. The best for the losing side was guard Maria Forni (179-85) with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Bulgarian power forward Radostina Slavova-Naneva (188-86) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Milano moved-up to third place in North, which they share with San Martino. Loser Alghero keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Milano will face Terme di Cervia (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alghero will play against the league's leader Meccanica NB in Bologna.
